Hellloooooo lovely peoples *waves hankerchief*

Head's a little woozy, just finished some reading, no food, yet. Anyways, the big news over the weekend is Roger Federer's exploits at the Australian Open. Actually, it should be Fernando Gonzalez's exploits and Roger Federer's "just another day at the office." It was an awesome game, brilliant play and awesome shots from both players. I had a pre match scare though, the stupid TVU player that i downloaded suddenly got invaded with American and Canadian Sports channels which were not showing any tennis and Star Sports, my beloved Star Sports disappeared from the list! Damn it. So i downloaded the SOpcast player instead, got lots more channels including ESPN!! ESPN Asia i mean. That means Sportscenter! Which means Steve Dawson and Uday Joshi! Woooo..one bad thing though, the audio and visual doesn't sync. Bah, well i guess you can't have everything. Anyways, lucky Adalia had cable in her room so she invited me over the watch after hearing about how cruel Star Sports got ran over. But i'm actually glad i watch TSN's broadcast of the AO, finally FINALLY i get to hear Mary Carillo, Dick Enberg, Pam Shriver and Luke Jensen's reports. Its American Coverage, and very different from the coverage i'm used to. Lol and now i know why so many people hate Mary Carillo's commentating.

Fernando Gonzalez is awesome!! Like Martina Hingis, but with power. Definitely one to watch out for this season. I liked the part when he was trying to rescue the moth that was on court..so cute! He had a pretty funny acceptance speech too. He played his game and it was good, but just not good enough for Federer. I could go on and on about the divine tennis being that is Roger Federer but i won't. But i'll touch on some. His passing shots are eye popping sometimes. I love his backhands and it is when I watch him that I wish i had a one handed backhand. And the way he completely demolished Andy Roddick in the semi final is truly a wonder to watch. For me, i'm an A-Rod and Fedex fan, so it was painful on one hand, but satisfying on the other. Not exactly a nice clash of emotions to experience. I feel for Andy, he was so sure he was closing the gap between Federer and himself and had so much confidence after the horrendous season last year(which ended not so badly, but still..), was playing so well in the torunament, and then get beaten down to the ground like nobody's business by Federer. Give it time Andy, go back to the drawing board and work even harder, one day..one day, you will beat this man! And you have the great Jimmy Connors on your side! Jimmy is a badass. And its translating to you as well. And that's why we all love you. The only good parts from that semi final, was Roddick's on court reactions and the press conference after that.

Here's a couple of funny things he did/said: After netting a forehand he yelled: God damn it i mean gosh darn it sorry god! ROFL
Trying to hi 5 the linesman after he called Fed's ball out but Fed challenged and it was in. hahaha..its like " Hey thanks for trying to help me but too bad"
Pumping his fists sarcastically after Federer challenged another ball that was called out but actually was in.
There are some hilarious quotes from the press conference as well but i'm too lazy to them hehe..its on youtube though if you're interested. Just type Andy Roddick Australian Open press conference. But gotta hand it to him, to handle such a beating with humor and sardonic wit is something to give credit for. Heck i'll just put the link here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=80W9pW3TTxw

So, Roger becomes the first man since Bjorn Borg in 1980 to win a Grand Slam without dropping a set. He's really playing for records now. Please kick Nadal's ass in May in the French Open. Federer seriously has the eyes of god! In the semi final, in the final, every ball he challenged went his way! I mean like wtf?(in a gd way), and when they show the challenge on hawk eye, the ball is always in by only a fraction of a margin..and seriously, a minute fraction. How the hell does he do it...Pay your respects people.

On to the women's side(yes i'm not done yet), Serena's baaaaack!!! The beating she gave Sharapova echoes the one handed out by Federer to Roddick. Sharapova didn't turn up for the match and Serena just pummelled her. I'm glad to see Serena back. She deserved it way more than Shrieka/Cheata-pova. Honestly, i've never seen Sharapova get thrashed so badly in a final before or any other match for that matter. The last time was in Indian Wells in 2005 where she got double bageled by Lindsay Davenport, but other than that..nada. *Wonders*

Anway, i'm sad and glad that Aussie Open is over. Next major tournament is Indian Wells/Miami in March..looking forward to that! I can finally concentrate properly on doing work, and not working my schedule around the time of matches. Lol..just when i have essay outlines and presentations due. yay!

Hope y'all are getting through your presentations/submission week(s) all right!

Okay i'm outie.

Just finished watching the Ancic/Roddick 4th round match..zomg just an incredible match! Probably the best of the tournament so far.

Andy Roddick has proved me wrong, he CAN volley.

Anyways, i'm glad he's playing well again. Love those serves Andddy!!

Andy next plays Mardy Fish. His good friend. Actually good friend is an understatement, they grew up together, and even stayed together throughout High school and all..isn't that cute. After the match when Jim Courier was interviewing him about his next match with Fish, i think the question was "Did you two agree that if you were to meet in the quarterfinal of the 2007 Australian Open, he would have to give you the match?", and Andy's like "Yeah that's his rent. I think i have the contract somewhere." LOL.

I really hope he gets somewhere..Jimmy Connors is probably the best thing that's happened to him over the past year. And i youtube-d Jimmy Connors..that man is one mean machine. Vlad said, "yeah Jimmy Connors is probably the meanest man to have ever graced the game. Along with Ilie "Nasty" Nastase. They were best friends on the tour." Well that makes sense..A-Rod has seemed to turned up the mean factor ever since Coach Connors came in. But i like this team. If R-Fed wants to be nice, you be nasty Andy!

Okay, but i don't see how Andy's going to make it into the finals..because Roger Federer is in his half of the draw!! Unless Gasquet or Robredo or the guy he's playing in the 4th round, oh yes Djokovic, pulls a Lucie Safarova. But wait, Roddick beat Federer at Kooyong last week..who's to say it won't happen again right? Yes, i shall hope that happens. Moving on, C'mon Gasquet!! QF with Federer and oh the shot making feast for the eyes we'll have. Those elegant one handed backhands....ahhhh..uh um.. okay anyway, Big news in the women's field, Safarova has knocked out defending champion Amelie "Momo" Mauresmo! Guess her mental game is still weak.. Think Sharapova is gonna take this one. Man, think of the media frenzy. But there's still Vaidisova, Clijsters and Serena Williams. I want Kim Clijsters to win it..its her last year on the tour... *sad*.

AO '07..I'm loovin' it.

Good news!! I found Livestreaming for the Australian Open!!!! The tennis gods have decided not to be so cruel to me after all.. I downloaded the TVUPlayer and it has so many channels! Well not that many but i haven't watched TV in a very long time. Anyway, they have STAR SPORTS!! And you know what that means??? FOOTBALL!!! After 5 long months, someone has thrown me a lifeline. Thank you bhhbackhand..

Just got off the phone with Mom.. as usual, she's up at obscene hours of the morning. But i'm glad, cause she called me!

I got my essay topics already for Social Science and Humanities. Ahh more work to be done. Seminar Topics also assigned already..hmm i think i got an interesting one this term. Film and Video: Hollywood's World? Well thats just the title, but the material is about comparing Bollywood and Hollywood. I hope it makes for an interesting Presentation. One thing i'm glad is, the presentation is on February 6th! That's good..and not so good at the same time. Intro to Comm Essay Outline is due that day, which means i have quite alot to do. But once its over, i can enjoy reading week! But i'd prefer that my seminar presentation be out of the way earlier in the term..then i can fully concentrate on my essays. Last term, my presentation was so close to the essay deadline..so yeah, these things, the faster they're out of the way, the better. I should be doing my work now, but damn, i just finished the most irritating, annoying and pretty much pointless assignment in the whole entire world. Conceptual Analysis. Run away if you ever encounter it. And i just found Livestreaming of AO..the temptations.

My cold's getting better, only the nose and throat left to clear before I'm good as new! Weather Updates: Toronto is finally blanketed in snow. Last Sunday, it started to really come down! Man it was pretty. I was so feverish otherwise i would have went out to behave like a total snow f.o.b. Monday morning brought Freezing rain, or Ice pellets as Prof. Kroker put it and more snow in the afternoon. The view from Vari Hall was so beautiful! I didn't have my camera so i couldn't take the snow falling down on a big empty field. I promise i will get more pictures up soon..something's wrong with the digi cam..probably conking out already. Geez. Snow is really fun to walk on. Its like there's this perfect stretch of snow untouched by footprints and god you just have this urge to walk on it. I love the crunching sound it makes. I've only heard crunching sounds on snow in movies or on TV. Actually i was thinking of Eugene Roe in Episode 6 of Band of Brothers while walking on that snow. Now i know how it felt like. There's two types of textures of snow, the powdery one is the one that makes the nice sound and not that dangerous to walk on. very Pretty too. The frozen, packed iced one, makes a louder sound, however, you feel like you're gonna slip everytime you take a step. So walk fast on that.. And about the wind i mentioned in December, January wind is worse. My nose is always red and my skin actually hurts even after i step inside. Put moisturiser and it stings. Static situation is not any better. Cold and Dry are the 2 words.

Natalie and Sarah had a good laugh when i asked them, how do you get rid of static in your hair? And then Nat said something about, sometimes its your clothes which causes the static in your hair. Oh, i said. Natalie then proceeds to say, just pour fabric softener along in when you wash your clothes or get fabric softener sheets and put two in the dryer along with your wet laundry.

Oh. How dumb of me.

Well, you learn something new everyday.

OH MY GAWD I LOVE SNOW!!!!! Its so White! and Pretty!

Now, i shall be a diligent student and get started on reading a 17 page paper from the Journal of the History of Biology titled " Before Darwin: Transformist Concepts in European Natural History." Doesn't that sound Interesting? I don't know whether I'm being sarcastic or not. *dives into reading armed with highlighter(purple)*

Please watch the video when it turns up on my blog. I am strangely proud of it.

I'm very, very sick.

I really should have seen this coming. Two whole weeks of lecture, the people who sit beside me are coughing, wheezing and sneezing. So here i am now, feverish, sneezing and talking octaves lower than my usual voice.

This sucks. Next week, weather canadiana will finally show its true face. Wednesday is going to be -23 degrees. That's when i have night class. At least its going to start to snow. I actually forgot how it feels like to be sick. The last time i was sick was when we came back from England in '04. Not enjoying this bout of flu. Since when did i get uncontrollable shivering?

I can't concentrate on any school work, its Saturday already and i've only got less than 1/4 of my readings done. Plus, i have that assignment due on Wednesday. To make matters worst, i may have to go without Microsoft Office at my disposal this semester. I sent my laptop for servicing on Monday and they had to erase my whole hard drive because it was all corrupted with viruses(no mood and strength to explain). So i asked the guy at the shop on campus for anti virus software and Microsoft Office. As a York Student, you can get Symantec anti virus for free. Cool! Then he tells me that they don't have any stock of Microsoft Office 2003. I was expecting Microsoft Office 2007, because Ruey told me last November that 2007 should be coming out in a month's time. Then the guy said, no, Microsoft is holding back on shipping 2007 and you can probably only get in in March. March! That's when my term is 3/4's over you dumbasses! And in the meanwhile, you don't ship Microsoft Office 2003 anymore?! What about those unfortunate people who have computer problems between January and March which requires a total erase of their hard disks? We just hang, till '07 decides to hit the shelves?

Now, i'm not completely stranded here. There's always the library! Where you have to queue up for god knows how long to use the rows of computers equipped with MS word! No problem! Me? I don't like waiting, so i'll probably get up early to get to the library early so i can use MS word with minimal waiting time. I'm gonna hate SOSC 1310 now..weekly typed reading summaries. Essays! I'm gonna have to write on paper first and then bring it to the library to be typed. And i'm going to have to pay for it to be printed too! Even though I have my OWN printer sitting pretty on top of the shelf in my room. Its going to be sitting there, mocking me. Nice eh?

One good thing is, at least i'm not coughing my brains out. Be thankful for that, self!

End of Rant.

Quote or partial quote of the day: "...when man utd has deprove so much that they have to rely on Ronaldo as game maker or wat shit, i will switch teams and support Arsenal." - Anne

Dmitry Tursunov Hopman Cup Mixed Doubles

okay since I have one person(thank you azimah) who has expressed some interest in Tennis, here is the best video evaaaa!! I can't believe my luck is so bad, that i missed this tournament. Well, due to circumstances beyond my reach. But anyway, the player here is DMITRY TURSUNOV!! the funniest player on the ATP circuit..like ever. I think he's funnier than Andy Roddick *gasps*. Well check out his blog on http://www.atptennis.com/en/blog/2006/tursunov.asp. Guaranteed to have you doubling over with laughter.

Oh and in this video, the Sharapova imitation is DEAD ON. We love Dmitry!!! and his sagging boobs as well ahhem..lol.

I'm still trying to find the one where he drinks from a bottle of vodka after a changeover, it was actually just water but in a vodka bottle, you should have seen the LOOK on Nadia Petrova's(his doubles partner) face. But please, you HAVE to watch this video.

Specs: This is the Dead rubber after the Hopman Cup Final which Russia won against Spain. The Russians are: Dmitry Tursunov and Nadia Petrova and The Spaniards: Anabel Medina Garrigues and Tommy Robredo. They were just goofing around and putting up a show for those fun lovin' australians.

My conclusion: Anything with Dmitry or Mitya(as i refer to him) is guaranteed to be awesome! Nadia, Tommy and Anabel were all good sports and were equally cheeky.

Aother week...gone. Well, technically its only thursday but i'm done with my lessons. Thats's the 2nd week of school. Time flies, flies and flies. The quicker the better, i'm enjoying myself but honestly, i can't wait to get home. Because there are many things to look forward to. Huh. Maybe that's why.

Okay when Azimah mentioned 'Lemon'(ROFL) naked and then DVD in the same sentence, it sounded well...dirty. So I think i'll clear this up before it spirals out of control. The German national team engaged the services(again, dirty! um just don't think that way ok?) of one of Germany's top film directors, Sonke Wortmann, whose other notable film includes 'The Miracle of Bern' which was, surprise surprise, about the 1954 German World Cup winning team. Basically, its about how the country, which was still recovering from the previous decade's hoo hah, namely World War 2 and facing abit of hostility and resentment from other European Nations went on to win the World Cup. Yeah, pretty obvious isn't it? I haven't seen it myself but I will. Soon.

Anyway, back to the story, Sonke Wortmann's latest work(which is the film containing lemon's near nakedness, his modesty saved only by one Bastian Schweinsteiger's clowning around) is called Deutschland: Ein Sommermaerchen, which means, Germany: A Summer's Tale or Fairytale, i'm not too sure on that but you get the point. It is a documentary which follows the team right from the preparations for the World Cup in the Training Camp in Sardinia to the 3rd place playoff in Stuttgart. Its a no holds barred, behind the scenes look into the German Campaign during last summer's World Cup. From the joy of beating Poland to qualify for the second round to the tense atmosphere during half time in the quarter final against Argentina to the blood, sweat and tears after the defeat against Italy. Ahhh so near, yet so far..

So thats really what the whole thing is about. Its like one big reality show..well i guess it is.

I'm actually blogging, here in the library, to pass time. I have to go collect my laptop, which will be ready at the "end of the day". I wanna give them some more time so i definitely can collect it once i get there. Then its back to the room for some more work! Y-a-y.

Australian Open is next week, people!! The draw is tomorrow, people!! Will Sharapova take this one with mind numbingly screeching ease ? Will the frenchwoman Momo be mentally strong enough to defend her first grand slam title of her career? Will Kim Clijsters's last Australian Open be her very first as well? JHH is out, Venus is out so that blows the women's field right open!! I hope. As for the men's, well, R-Fed will most likely be taking it, although i want Richard Gasquet to make some serious inroads, if he could win that would be even better, no? Speaking of no?, i think Nadal will disappoint. But who knows who knows? Looking forward to two fantastic weeks of high quality tennis. Watch this space.

First day of Winter Semester..

Frankly i'm in no mood to start the weekly heavy readings and assignments again. The holiday was way too short. 12 more weeks of weekly tie downs..damn. I got a big assignment due next Wednesday. Have to start working on that. Readings tonight and one sentence assignment due tomorrow. Omg i don't feel like budging and getting to work. *slumps in front of the screen*

Today's lecture was such a bore and the stupid guy next to me was sick. He kept coughing and wheezing and sneezing that it was so hard to hear what the prof was saying, let alone concentrate. Got two term papers to write this time round..okay i will just have to manage my time more carefully and i think i will have enough time.

Can't wait for February!!! That's when Deutschland Ein Sommermaerchen is released on DVD. Hopefully it'll come with English Subtitles and some sort of Region disabler. So sian of trying to work around those damn Region thingys. ommg i really can't wait for this movie to be released!!! It's gonna be the best sports documentary ever!! and we are guaranteed almost(ALMOST) nude shots of Christoph Metzelder and Jens Lehmann. Vielen Danke, Sonke Wortmann!! I'm gonna get this DVD, and when i get back to SG, inviting all you girls for a major fangirly squeal fest!!! (Parvin, no near nude shots of Jurgen Klinsmann but there are others and thats really enough..trust me, i saw the teasers lmaao)

Frenchie a.k.a Arnaud has gone back to France and now I have a new neighbour, Ivan from HK. Every semester there are new exchange students..fun huh? Since Frenchie is gone, i'll have no more chance to wave my German Soccer Jersey in his face anymore. That's kinda sad. I'll miss the accent too. that's doubly sad. stop. depressing. self.

I should start preparing for my next class already.. leave a tag soon!! I'm wondering where all of you have disappeared to..

Oh yeah, Happy New Year!! 2007 is gonna be great!

Angeline, March 1st!! MArch 1st we must order our tickets!! Last day of February wait online, the moment midnight hits, we're placing our order!
