Buffalo vs Ottawa Brawl 2/22/07 Buffalo vs Ottawa Brawl 2/22/07 Forget the Carling Cup final, this IS a REAL BRAWL! Basically, the Buffalo Sabres' team captain was taken out and then they retaliate by sending their 'toughest guys' after the Ottawa Senators' best players. You have to wait till the 3rd or 4th minute before the real action begins, there's some tame punches thrown at the start but that's nothing. I won't ruin it for you but the players throw off their gear to attack each other while the coaches scream at each other in the stands. Enjoy! Man if they had this rule in football, imagine all the chelsea players jumping on Diaby after he kicked JT in the face! Yeah Ice Hockey owns when it comes to fights/brawls!! Maybe its because its actually legal in this game. =D soliloquy88 at 12:05 PM | Comment ~~~~~ Sunday, February 25, 2007
I bring you more from the work of genius that is Gargantua and Pantagruel, This "poem" is from Chapter 13 : How Grandgousier realized Gargantua's marvellous intelligence, by his invention of an arse-wipe. Who his foul bum with paper wipes Will on his ballocks leave some chips Shittard Squittard Crackard Turdous Thy Bung Has Flung Some Dung On us. Filthard, Cackard, Stinkard May you burn with St. Anthony's fire If all Your foul Arseholes Are not well wiped ere you retire. Yesterday, shitting, I did know The profit to my arse I owe Such was the smell that from it slunk That I was with it all bestunk Oh, had but then someone consented To bring me her for whom I waited, Whilst shitting! I would have closed her water pipe In my rough way and bunged it up, While she had with her fingers guarded My jolly arsehole all bermerded With shitting. How can you not enjoy this? Argh, I should really be doing work now, since i have sooooo much to do, but it's one of those weekends. Where nothing can get done. Yes, i felt it yesterday when i kept getting distracted by match reports and the current book I have deemed for recreational reading. Seriously, I marvel at myself for being able to squeeze in recreational reading with the course load I have. Well, actually there's nothing to marvel about, I just get so into my rec. reading and tell the one side of my brain which is ordering the other side to put down the book and go do some work that matters, "to hell with the rest, i'll stay up the night before for that class and speed read." But seriously, Nixon in China is awesome!! I need to check out other books by Margaret MacMillan. Politics is so interesting. God, am i actually contemplating Poli Sci here...It is something that i've not ruled out as a major possibility.. English or Poli Sci? This is gonna get interesting. Am so excited about the europe trip, euro 2008 and anything else to do with europe that I don't know what to doooooooooo.. Mainly because the date to book the euro 2008 tickets is coming up!!! I guess I'm not going for Modr tutorial next Wednesday evening. ack what the hell, the prof's done teaching anyway, we just gather there and talk and wait for lecture to start. I really dislike that course. Would have dropped it if it weren't for the people in that class. I should have took that history class!! I wanna take at least one university level history course before I graduate. Yes, yes I will. Okay good luck for all of ya taking your exams next week! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() teehee..I love my footie teams. and no, your eyes are not deceiving you, that is indeed the club emblem of Fulham F.C. soliloquy88 at 7:36 AM | Comment ~~~~~ Thursday, February 22, 2007
huh. hmm. I just read a chapter out of the best book so far in my course about two men, Thaumauste and Panurge having finger signing sex. The chapter is called "How Panurge confounded the Englishman who argued by Signs" out of the book "Gargantua and Pantagruel" by Francois Rabelais. It was certainly entertaining . And certainly the first time i've read an intellectual debate with the usage of finger porn to illustrate an argument. Here's a little excerpt: Thaumauste began to tremble and grow pale, and made him this sign: With the middle finger of his right hand he struck the muscle of the palm beneath the thumb, then put the forefinger of his right hand into a ring formed with his left; only, unlike Panurge, he put it in from below, not from above. Then Panurge struck one hand against the other and blew in his palm. After which he once more thrust the forefinger of his right hand into the ring made by his left, pushing it in and drawing it out several times. Then he stuck out his chin and looked at Thaumauste intently. Thaumauste now began to sweat great drops, and had all the appearance of a man rapt in high contemplation. Well, you've got to love those Renaissance folk eh? Its an awesome book with a boorish rude kind of humor. ooh fun! Why wasn't one of my essay topics on this.. Anyways, away with academia for a mo'! Man United beat Lille away! Yeees! No one beats Man Utd twice in the Champions League! Benfica learnt that in the group stages and now it will be your turn Lille!! So, we've got that crucial away goal, and now we just have settle them at home at OT. *squees* I'm really interested to see how far we can go this season. On the other hand, Bayern lost to Real Madrid!! Grrrr. Its 3-2, which is not that bad really. 2 away goals and a 1 goal deficit. What in hell kind of goal celebration was that, Van Bommel? But a loss is a loss. All Bayern has to do now is to win 2-0 at home in the 2nd leg. Judging by current form, these two teams suck. Bayern, can you even win 2-0 at home?? A season ago this would have been nothing. Now, you can't even beat teams like 1. FC Nurnberg and Alemania Aachen. Okay okay, its a slump. Man United was going through something similar for the past two seasons but it was not as bad as this. We still managed to maintain 2nd place all the way through. And eat your words Uli Hoeness!! In case you were wondering, Hoeness is one of the puppet masters at FC Bayern. And he was dissing Man Utd last season when Michael Ballack was deciding where to go, saying that if he were smart he wouldn't choose to go to Man Utd because they weren't the same Man Utd as compared to before. Look where your club is now! muahaha. Okay i am a Bayern Supporter but i seriously think they should get rid of their entire top management, Hoeness, Beckenbauer, Rummennige.. And to add to this irony, they said that they wouldn't miss Ballack when he went to Chelsea. You do miss Ballack, Bayern. Furthermore, Beckenbauer has come out and said Ballack would have been more suited at Manchester United. While I will certainly want to agree with this (b/c i'm all M.U.F.C and it's Michael Ballack), since he's chosen to go to chelsea, is there a need to constantly dig up old bones and examining them? geez. Ballack is like the highest paid footballer in the world right now at Chelsea, why would he want to move? Unless something really drastic happens to him at the club. I am sure Man Utd would swoop in readily. And you guys at home who get to watch the premiership week in week out are probably more familiar on this, but apparently, the chelsea fans and some chelsea team mates are not that warm towards Ballack. The fact of him being German and not contributing enough seems to be a recurring topic. Ah well. Herr Ballack, i can only support you in peace when you are playing in the mannschaft. Rest of the matches: Barca lost to Liverpool, again! *doesn't know whether i'm happy or neutral about this* the rest were all draws, Chelsea and Porto *SMIRKS*, Roma and Lyon, Valencia and Inter.. Today was kind of hot. I wore a fresh new pair of jeans only for it to get dirty because the snow was melting into a thick brown slush!! Arghhh, damn it. I have so much work to do! * Is happy, strangely* I feel a Jefferson Airplane and The B-52s obsession coming on. soliloquy88 at 9:41 AM | Comment ~~~~~ Thursday, February 15, 2007
I got me my mac book owwooohooooo!! Okay its not that great because i have to get used to using a mac. And its not that easy. Especially if you've been a windows user your whole life. So first, i have to start by saying, i hate firefox. Firefox combined with Mac, has made me a very frustrated woman yesterday. But it was the first day, Mac and Firefox and I were staking each other out. Today, it's not so bad. I found my way a little more around Firefox. But i just love the Mac user interface!! its just so awesome..awesomeness. There are many sacrifices one has to make when changing from windows to mac. The first, google Steve Jobs( ok not exactly a sacrifice, but a chore). Well, that's just me. Anyway, my livestreaming!! *clutches hair*. I read somewhere that most livestreaming players don't support Mac? No uh wait, *breathes*, there must be some player out there..somewhere. Yes..there will be..i will find you. Random videos you find on the net or when nice people give you links aren't supported by Mac. damn. Alot more i have to say but my mac user interface is blinding me with its charm. One good thing, you don't have to download any anti virus software. Spyware and all of that crap doesn't exist in the world of Mac. Cool eh? Okay thats it for my bit on Mac. More to come once we get more accquainted with each other.. soliloquy88 at 11:57 AM | Comment ~~~~~ Tuesday, February 13, 2007
I hate my laptop keyboard. Some of the keys are so effin screwed up that you have to hit it really hard till you get blisters on your fingers for the it to register whatever letter it is you're typing. Which is why i cannot wait for my mac book to arrive! Yep i finally FINALLY got down to ordering it, the one with the specs that i wanted wasn't in stock, and will only be arriving in about two days. Mid week, the guy at the store said. Oookay.. Anyways, today is the first day of reading week! All my dorm mates have all headed down south to the sunnier climates of Florida and Mexico. Well not all of them, but most. And if they're not getting ridiculously drunk and partying the week away, they're headed home to their home provinces. Screw them, they're lucky. Chinese New Year is coming up.. dinner at Saddletree Drive! Looking forward to that. Today, got up and sat in bed for a while. Looking out of the window. thinking. about nothing in particular. Drank some left over coffee from the previous night's long talk with Abby, Chris and Evan. Not as disgusting as you'd think. On Saturday, went over to Adalia's to watch the Man Utd-Charlton match. I overslept! and what made it worse was that my period came. I stained the bed abit, but the tide stain remover pen came in handy. It's a small stain anyways. Hardly visible. So, by the time I finished cursing and knocked on Adalia's door, the match was already 14 minutes underway. "I thought you forgot!" Well, i smiled sheepishly and decided to skip the period story and made do with a lame: "I overslept." "Breakfast?" "Oh no thanks" I was hungry, but i declined. As usual. I don't know why, I get very uncomfortable when people offer me food. So we settled down to watch the match, Ronaldo wasn't playing and some other guy..the name is on the tip of my tongue....uhhh ummm..ack forget it. Anyways, the replacements: Parky and Fletcher. And they scored! Like, WOOOOOOOO!! The match got pretty boring in the second half, so of course, what do girls do when the match is boring and there are 22 men running around in shorts? Yes, we obviously squealed about the aesthetical appealing side of the beautiful game. Our first target, Darren Fletcher. And omfg, it hit me who he looked like!! JOSH!! Josh is my in-the-room-diagonally-opposite-mine-who-likes-to-order-pizza-and-have-endless-pizza-parties-and-whose-goal-in-life-is-to-make-all-those-around-him-sick-of-pizza-by-the-time-the-year-is-up and a pretty cool American guy. After the match, watched two canadian dudes talk about the match and round up the rest of the football action around Europe for that whole week. It was quite alot considering the number of internationalies played. They didn't talk about Germany!! Death to the two Canadian dudes. They are nowhere to be seen when compared with Uday Joshi and Steve Dawson. So after that, I came back to my room to change before going to York Lanes to meet Kristina, whom i needed to pass something to. We ended up having lunch since i was starving. But not many places were open on Saturday so I had to settle for Treats Emporium, didn't feel like having anything sweet so i ate a Salad. It was nice, but not enough. So all the way through lunch, listened to Krissie bitch about her boss at work. Wasn't really paying attention half the time, as i was concentrating on my salad. But i'm good at looking like i'm paying attention but actually i'm not. And ya know what? I actually absorb everything the other person says, cause after zoning out and when she finally stopped talking and asked for my opinions on that wretched boss woman of hers, i was able to give a comprehensive and intelligible answer. That's good right? i should so totally be a pyschiatrist, i'll be getting paid to listen to people and I can zone out and think of other things while looking like i'm trying very hard to understand them. Kristina finally let me go, well actually she had to leave for work (bursts out laughing at the irony, hope the Karma didn't get you at work Kris!) So i walked back to Residence, and yes, a simple walk back can be very eventful too! SNOW STORM!!! Caught me totally off guard. I was walking, then suddenly my vision was nothing but a sea of cold, hard, white-ness. The wind was howling and then the snow came, like really, it wasn't fun to be caught in it. I was, : "uh what's happening? GAHHHHHH!!" It was kinda scary actually, but it was fleeting. Lasted for about a couple of minutes. So it wasn't that bad. Actually the whole thing wasn't that bad, except for my initial reaction. It is a strangely peaceful feeling to be caught in a short snow storm. Everything's white. And if you're wearing ear muffs, like i was, it drowns out the howling wind, and its silent for a while. So, you get: White and Silent. Nice eh? I made it through the snow storm and back to my room safely and Adalia left a message on my door asking whether i wanted to go to Downsview Market later in the afternoon. Sure! I didn't mind, you don't scare me snow storms!!! *shakes fist at sky* So we left school at 4 o'clock, and Shuxia was going to meet us there. It was a pretty cool place i guess.. we had Jamaican for dinner. And then Shuxia was like, have you two been hanging out alot? And then we proceeded to tell her about the late night sports watching marathons we had, australian open, EPL matches. She's like : " I don't get what's so nice about Football. Tennis at least there's eye candy." Eh? *Blinks* Obviously you haven't watched football! I will show you just how much eye candy there is in football! I just have to introduce to you my beloved mannschaft! Tennis, there's two players on court, four if you're watching doubles (most people don't give a shit about doubles, but thats not the point). So if you take these numbers and compare it to football..well to spare us all a thorough statistical analysis, I shall just leave you with a simple statement: Tennis there's two. Football there's TWENTY-two. After much discussion, we finished up dinner and headed back to school. I was dead beat since it was the first day of my period, so i just lazed around in front of my laptop doing nothing much. Sunday was pretty much the same. I cleaned my room today and will be getting started on some serious work tomorrow. *Tried hard not to laugh at that statement* Happy Chinese New Year to all!! I am SO glad i'm not back in SG to hear the wonderful Chinese new year songs that i presume is being overplayed in EVERY shopping mall right now. Study hard my TP lovelies!! Oh i made this while i was having cramps and groaning like there's no tomorrow. I'm getting very inspired by this, *goes to download photoshop* This one was just made with Paint. Yes, good ol' Paint. ![]() soliloquy88 at 11:26 AM | Comment ~~~~~ Wednesday, February 07, 2007
Hellloo all my dirty trollops! Okay im just kidding, i'm feeling 18th century pronish today So anyways, today was a big day. Reading summary, Essay Outline and Seminar presentation all at 8.30 in the morning. We were presenting at the start of the class since Nicole had her cousin coming in to talk about what he does as a indie film maker but more on that later. I think our seminar went well, although maybe Nicole our TA cornered Miriam a little with the questions but other than that, it was good. I'm sooo relieved its over! No need to worry about this anymore! woooooo! After our presentation, was the supposed highlight of the class, where Nicole's cousin, was going to talk to us about Canadian film and the stuff he does as a film maker. It was really cool that we got the chance to actually interact with someone from the industry. His name was Mark Fennenberg(? i caught it that way) and a really cool person. He looked so much like Nicole. Same shade of blonde hair and same style of spectacles. He talked about how hard it was to get grants from the governement to fund indie films and also a little about his own films and production company. The main part of our discussion was about the perception of Canadian films by Canadians. For me, it was interesting, listening to this discussion about Canadians and their self-hate tendencies in regard to film. Makes me wonder..do Singaporeans have this same tendency? We don't really hate our films and then like it if someone else says its good right? hmm something to think about. There was a lot more to this discussion..but the class ended 7 hours ago and since then i've sat through a 2 hour lecture and basically almost froze while walking back to res. You know what's coming next!!! The Weather. Today was the first time since the winter started that i really felt like like dying in the cold. Think it was -30 degrees and wind chill must have been 10 degrees colder. Absolutely. no. fackin'. joke. I was in pain, yes in pain, all the time while walking outdoors. The beanie hat, the gloves, the scarf, no use at all. I was spewing f-bombs all the way to class and back. it was so cold that I just came back to residence after class ended. And my coffee was cold by the time I was back indoors. God, suffer here when it's cold. Suffer when back in SG because it'll be so bloody humid and hot. Very extreme climate change to adjust to. Watched the fourth quarter of the Superbowl last Sunday. PEYTON MANNING!!!!! Wooo! My favourite NFL player. Indianapolis Colts! I'm so glad they finally got the Vince Lombardi trophy, so now critics can just get off Peyton Manning's back. One thing i noticed, during their trophy ceremony, they: - Hand the trophy to the OWNER of the team FIRST -followed by the COACH - and then finally, the QUARTERBACK Tells you alot doesn't it? The owner shells out the money, he gets first dibs on the trophy, followed by the coach who yells at the players, and then the player himself, who obviously did all the dirty work on the field to actually get that trophy in the first place. Three words: Only in America. In football or any other team sport really, its Captain->Players->Coach. Hardly ever see any owners grabbing the trophies from players. That would be weird. Now i have an image of Roman Abramovich storming the field after Chelsea won any random premiership title grabbing the trophy and screaming: ITS MINE!MINE! I PAID FOR IT YOU BIOTCHES!!! muahahahahaha! okay image out of mind. Or maybe Malcolm Glazer. On to Man United, what a game against Spurs! The best part was when Sheasy played in the GK position for the last 5 minutes after Van Der Sar broke his nose. *sings* O'Shea O'Shea is there any position you can't play? Now that's what i call a versatile player. He has played in EVERY position except striker and that's excused really. Peyton Manning. The Colts' Quarterback in all his glory. ![]() And a really funny pic of my fav football player, Schweini!! ![]() Omg i love this pic! Pig year..schweini.. get it? I'm really cold. *goes to put on a coat* soliloquy88 at 6:18 AM | Comment ~~~~~ Friday, February 02, 2007
Oh yeah 1st February Post! Just got back from dinner drinking from a 2 litre bottle of tonic water Today's presentation went all right.. even though there were some glitches.. Marcia was pretty pleased so i guess it was good. Rockin out on iTunes now! So many different playlists to listen to. I guess i haven't told you about this yet, the new version of iTunes has this 'shared function' so if you're sharing a LAN network you can listen to other people's playlists!! Isn't that cool?? I'm using Residence Net so i'm like tapping all the playlists of the people living in the Residences on the North Side of Campus including my own Residence building. okay 8pm. Going to read more now. Its Friday back home! The weekend is almost here, hang tough. XD soliloquy88 at 8:54 AM | Comment ~~~~~ Thursday, February 01, 2007
Aghhhhh why is it so hard to read a friggin' book????
The book in question here is Thomas More's Utopia. Its not that hard to read, its just that i'm distracted. There. I answered my own question. 13 more pages! Its really a good book, very interesting, but my eye hurts because of the contact lense in it, my stomach hurts from drinking too much, there's a huge scratch on my back which i don't know how the hell got there in the first place..excuses excuses. Yes, then after reading, i have to tackle the assignment for it. On top of that, summarize the travel and tourism industry in Utopia. Admittedly, Magda and Anna didn't say anything about it, so i jumped at presenting the summary in tomorrow's tutorial. Why? Because it sounds the easiest. But it's kind of unsettling because so far i've only come across one short paragraph on travel and tourism. That means backtracking and traversing the text AGAIN!!! Usage of more time. damn. Friday is usually my day off, but this one is different!! We're having a seminar meeting on Friday to discuss our presentation for SOSC 1310 on tuesday. That's a big day, Tuesday February 6th. Essay Outline due, Reading Summary due, and yes, seminar presentation. I'm hoping to get the presentation stuff out of the way by Friday, wake up early tomorrow morning and do my reading summary, and spending the weekend formulating my thesis statement. I'm pretty sure i know what i want to argue, so i hope HOOOPE the words will come to me easily. Good thing is after next tuesday, its reading week!! Yay! One whole week off! Might be going dog sledding with Adalia, now that's something i never imagined having the chance to do..it sounds fun. During reading week, i'll have two essays and a painfully long MODR assignment to worry about. gaaaaaah *pulls hair* 10.16pm..i shall further procrastinate by going to shower. and i'm sleepy. Nooooo Okay i'm done..buh-bye. *head desks* soliloquy88 at 11:04 AM | Comment ~~~~~ |
