Like i promised.. there will be a picspam in this post. But first, updates. The winter term and academic year has officially ended this week. It was kinda sad, saying goodbye to tutorials. Well, the people in the tutorials. It is during these moments when you think "man, a year's gone by already?" Reality check, yes it has. It was a fun year. Got better as it went on. Quite an eventful last week of term too. Tuesday nacht, i was up studying for a final which was on Wednesday nacht, went to sleep at 1 a.m. FINALLY drifted off to sleep at 2.30a.m aaand at 4 fucking a.m. in the morning, die feckin' fire alarm goes off!!!! My reaction upon stirring from my slumber and realising what the hell was ringing, was : You have GOT to be kidding me. I have an EXAM TMR for christ's sake! Of course everyone else was cursing outside in the hallway but we had to go out otherwise those Residence Life Co-ordinators will jump at every opportunity to black mark you. So, me, still extremely groggy and pissed, grabbed the nearest jacket, slippers and keys and headed out with the rest. Once we got outside, I immediately regretted not paying attention and being more aware of what i was wearing. On a freezing cold march morning in Canada, I was wearing a thin t-shirt, shorts and slippers plus a totally useless against the cold(as I discovered after 10 minutes) jacket. Well, that immediately woke me up. Everyone was NOT amused, well, Nattie was being the eternal ray of sunshine that she was by saying "Aw C'mon you guys, this is fun!" Not fun when you just managed to fall asleep!! To pass the time we sat on the freezing cold cobblestoned ground, literally "freezing our asses off" and named song titles with the word "cold" in. It helped. NOT. In the end, after an hour, they let us back in. Well i guess it was kind of fun. Now looking back, i'm actually glad it happened. so yay. okay, now i have finals to look forward too. Yippee. Then i'm going back home. Yippee. Picspam, like i promised. Like, whoa. Like, Okay. ![]() My unmade bed. Well, come end-of-term-all-assignments-due-hell-week, chores seems relatively unimportant. ![]() Here's a little known fact about Post-Its. They have the pyschological power of adding stress to a person. Writing assignment due dates, To-do lists, Shopping lists, reminders to do laundry on them is a wonderful reality check every morning. And also when you're slacking off on the internet. Just one glance up... Yes, i love my post-its. I am the post-it queen. ![]() Like i said, there's just NO time for cleaning up!! Well my room's usually in a way better state than you've just saw, but the week i took these was the most hellish week ever. Seriously. I took these pictures because i simply had to DO SOMETHING ELSE other than stare at my computer trying to come up with some fancy thesis statement or editing an essay. ![]() My Van Gogh poster. Bought at a really cool arty shop downtown. I stare at it alot. ![]() Ahhh. Air tight sealed Bak Gua for Chinese New Year. Courtesy of Jesse's mom back home in SG. We were having a committe meeting and she just pulled them out of her bag. I have never been so happy to eat a piece of bak gua wrapped in a plastic seal which had travelled for 22 hours by plane. ![]() My Ski Tag. That day was aweeeessssssssssssssooooooooooommmmmmme. We went to a place called Snow Valley in Barrie, Ontario. Which is about an hour's drive from Toronto. Quite a nice little town. ![]() and lastly, my uber cool ski jacket!! I love my ski jacket! Got it for 75 bucks, original price: 149.99. Is that a great discount or what??? Waiting for Spring to buy Winter wear really pays off. thats it for now folks. hey, i'll be seeing all of ya soon! *waves* soliloquy88 at 12:40 PM | Comment ~~~~~ Friday, March 23, 2007
Guess what.... Who got a 78% on an assignment which was completely crapped through? Me Me Me Me MEEEEEEEEEEE Who got an 85% on an Essay that was stay-up-till-4am-to-write-the-day-its-due of epic last minute proportions? Me me me me MEEEEEEEEEEE *jumps around* *almost sprains ankle* *sits down and sips from lovelee champagne glass filled to brim with tonic water* GERMANY VS CZECH REP ON SATURDAY!!!!!! Kießling is in the squad! So is Gonzalo Castro! *dies many times over* This just in: Germany to play England at the New Wembley Stadium on August 22nd. O.M.Feckin'.G!!!! Why that reaction? Well. 1. August 22nd. Means I can sit in the comfort of my own living room to watch!!!!!!! 2. Because of 1. , i'll be watching a coverage that will be obscenely biased and one-sided. Which will only make victory sweeter when Germany Stuffs England. REVENGE FOR MUNICH 2001. 3. Its WEMBLEY. Disregarding the farce that was rebuilding the stadium, its still one of the world's most historic stadiums. 4. Germany beat England in the last game played there 7 years ago. Let us christen Wembley with another beating of England, dearest teutons. That should be sufficient enough to lobby for a more german sounding name for the Stadium. 5. World War 2 hostilities/banter will be brought up which is always amusing. 6. Its GERMANY VS ENGLAND!!!!!!!!!! *bows* soliloquy88 at 9:18 AM | Comment ~~~~~ Wednesday, March 21, 2007
LJ. so. totally. pwns. I really have to get adobe photoshop. Did you know its considered a skill which you can put on your CV? I certainly didn't. But now that I do, Moooom, photoshop for your future hotshot poli-sci/media expert daughter? teehee. Anyhoo, today was the last day of SOSC1310 tutorial. Nicole brought doughnuts! and she quoted Pinky and The Brain. By far, the coolest T.A. Well its kinda unfair to compare the whole lot, she's a masters student and has a sense of humor that has kept me awake on those early tuesday mornings. Which reminds me, I have to catch up on the readings for this class, since we're the only ones that will be forsaken next week cos Nicole's heading down South to Tampa for a conference. Spring is here. Snow is melting. Snow is freezing. Snow is Ice. Watch out when ya walk. Sent off my CV to Mom this morning, my work experience section is pathetic. Oh well, this is the time. I'm thinking about graduate school already. Like, seriously. 3 years to get an impressive record together. Su sent me my e-ticket this morning. I'll be waiting in LAX for 6 hours during the transit. What the hell am I going to do in Los Angeles Airport for 6 hours?? Damn. And its not like I can leave the airport and go explore the city. Seriously, they should have just stuck me for a night in LA, now that would have been awesome. The first place I would go to is the spot where River Phoenix died. Do not ask why. There's always walking around the airport. yis...while having Tom Hanks in "The Terminal" flashbacks. I get flashbacks. They happen very often. Meeting Jay at Scott tmr. Notes and Study guides have to passed along. Can you imagine..there's only a week of classes left. Then i'll be done. Me, done with first year of University. It was a wonderful year. Learned alot. Knowledge yis..my mind is so enriched now. I can tell you why "Little Boy" and "Fat Man" are called "Little Boy" and "Fat Man" respectively. I am of course refering to the atomic bombs of WW2. But also about myself. Hmm..don't know how i'm going to adjust to authority again once i get home. Freedom is addictive. In other news, I can't wait for Saturday's match. Deutschland vs Czech Republic. Thinking of de-registering my mac from Res-Net and plugging my Toshiba back in so I can get the Live-streams. Yis..shall seriously consider that. Needs careful planning, as system takes an hour to recognise a new computer. Decide by Friday woman, k thanks. Oh i'm going to do a picspam very soon..pictures that i have took over the last three months. I am pissed that I'm missing Indian Wells and Miami '07. Must. finish. essay. by. tmr. afternoon. in. time. for. writing. centre. appointment. otherwise. will. equal. sucktastic. grade. soliloquy88 at 12:54 PM | Comment ~~~~~ Saturday, March 17, 2007

Its been so long since i've posted. well its not that long, 11 days really not that long..but considering the frequency of posts i did in february, this one's way overdue right? Well, i shall tell you why, I have discovered LiveJournal. And also because I just finished two very hellish assignments which included racking my brains to come up with crap for the first one that the crap producing part of my brain was so worn out by the time it came to the 2nd one that I actually wrote some beautiful prose. yeah, i wish. But back to LiveJournal, it is seriously addictive. I have decided, once summer comes, i will dedicate a larsge part of my time to mastering LiveJournal, where i will let my inner fangirl run wild. Icons, banners, picspams, not sure about fics yet..but maybe i'll get there one day. Lol. Anyway, I want to make it like a shrine. to german football and german footie players xDDDDD. Anyways, its mid-march already and i realize how little time i have until my first final. MARCH 28th!!!!!!! Craptard. My research paper is due March 27th. *rolls eyes* I have two reading summaries due next tuesday. Second final is on April 3rd. A little breathing space before it picks up again with finals on April 16th and April 20th. After my final exam, i have ten days till i fly off hooomeeeeeee!!!!!! *Sings* Hooommmeee, we're coming hooooooomeeeee agaaaaaaaain. During that 10 days, i have to pack up my stuff(which, now as i am looking around my room, seems very daunting. I can't fucking believe how many books i have!! Not just textbooks, but recreational reading material!! Oh well..the price you pay for knowledge.) and figure out the logistics to move it down 4 flights of stairs. Actually I could just throw them down each flight. After all, its only books and clothes. So UEFA finally replied me on that enquiry I sent in a couple of days ago. I read it, and YOU DIDN'T EVEN ANSWER MY QUESTION !! Seriously, they typed a whole lot of crap to my one very simple question. God. Okay but all things are good now, I tried to apply again on Monday and the whole process went smoothly, they sent me a confirmation email, so yis, whew. Oh yes, last Saturday: Went SKIING!!!!!!!!! zOMG it was awesome!!! Okay, everyone, when going skiing for the first time, prepare to fall down alot. Well thats what happened to me. and a whole bunch of other people who were first time skiers. But after falling down on your ass alot, you learn to fall properly. How do you fall properly? There's a technique. When you feel as though you're losing control or going too fast, lean to the side and fall dramatically. Yes, that's how you fall down, PROPERLY. There's a reason why they teach you that, so you can get up!!! Oh god, the getting up. If you fall down backwards, meaning on your ass, forget about getting up. You're gonna have to take your skis off. When you fall sideways, your skis are at this angle where you can push yourself up with the poles and immediately flatten out your skis to balance and then stand up. Its hard to maneuver really, well duh when you have 6 foot skis attached to your feet.. But after a while once you get the hang of it, its awesome to glide along the snow. And when you come down to slopes, whoa, like, ADRENALINE RUSH!! I'm not that great at it yet, but i'm determined to be at least, quite good at this. Next year, i'm gonna try SNOWBOARDING!! Wheeeeeeeeeee, sounds like so much fun. I will have proper skiing/snowboarding pants next time. Wearing jeans was so not a good idea. Oritay, i guess i'm done here. btw, the italicized lyrics is from the song, Homecoming by Green Day, off the album "American Idiot". A great rock opera IMHO. I seriously miss m ![]() *thumbs up* Andrej Vronin, please go to Liverpool soon so liebeling Kiess can start games. Danke schon. *bows* soliloquy88 at 9:40 AM | Comment ~~~~~ Saturday, March 03, 2007
Its March already!!!!
Okay anyways, quite an eventful past few days. Lets first start with Wednesday, because it comes first in the list of the days i'm going to be describing to you. So, on Wednesday evening, I met Angeline online because the euro 2008 tickets was to go on sale on the 1st of March. So, we being Singaporean, have the kiasu streak burnt into us decided at 12am march 1st Central European time, we would wait online and place our applications and the applications would go through with a window popping up on our computer screens which would say something like: Congratulations! Your application has been sent through! However, things turned out not like we expected at all. First of all, we were way way waaaay too early. Nothing had been posted on the website yet, except applications for UEFA cup final tickets. There was an article about a press conference to be held on thursday to inform the public about the application process so we were like..okay we're too early la dee da. So Angeline went back to sleep since she was up at an obscene hour of the day SG time and hadn't slept for god knows how long(36 hours...?) because of her semestral exams. So I continued to do my work and we decided to meet again at 12 noon Central European time, meaning 6pm SG time and a 5 AM WAKE UP for ME the next morning!! Okay, its the european championships, i won't complain. So naturally, i overslept by 35 minutes, jumped out of bed and quickly flicked on my desk light groggily. So. Not. A. Good. Idea. I was like " agh My eyeeeeeees!!!!! " It was just too bright. So it took a few minutes to adjust and I turned on my computer and logged on to MSN and the euro2008 website. YAY they were already starting to accpet applications! Woo!! So, happily clicked on the apply now icon aaaaand....more complications arose. First, we had to decided what kind of tickets to get. Individual Match Tickets, Follow My Team(Group) tickets or Follow My Team (Tournament) Tickets. The IMT is just a ticket for one match. FMT Group allows you to follow your team through the whole group stage meaning 3 matches, and FMT Tournament means follow your team through the whole tournament. Unlucky if your team gets knocked out in the Group Stages. Second, payment complications. Neither of us had Mastercard. And they only accepted payment through Mastercard for none UEFA countries. WTF!! I couldn't believe how bad this was going..anyways, did an emergency email to Mom to ask whether she had Mastercard. Then did some major panicking and cursing. After that, we decided things should move on and started to think of what type of tickets to buy and how much it was going to cost. I am so tempted to get FMT Tournament but that is out of the question for now. Later in my life I will be able to afford such a package. Finally, we decided on IMT for the quarterfinals! QUARTERFINALS!! Wooo!! Its gonna cost 180 euros each for CAT 1 Tickets meaning PITCH SIDE SEATS!!! OMFG!!! I so so so am going to die of happiness if we really can get PITCH SIDE SEATS!! But then again, with IMT, we run the risk of not being able to catch the team we want to watch. That is why i'm praying for the perfect situation. If Angeline and I both successfully get tickets to two QF match, one of the teams playing in these 2 QF matches will be Germany and Portugal. *prays prays prays* And we spent the whole morning laying out the skeleton for our Euro Trip. It looks pretty good for now, although we may have to cut some countries because of transport complications. But that can wait till we're sitting down, face to face, with some drinks and snacks, a map of europe sprawled in front of us, some guide books and internet access nearby. So it was 6 am in the morning for me and all my SG friends were online!! Talked to Angeline, Anne, Junie, Jing Ying, Midori with cameo appearance typing swear words at me through Anne's nickname by Bibi. Lol, it was fun. The not fun part was that I was starving and they all had stuff to eat. Nasi Lemak, KFC, Nasi Biryani... *shakes fist* all i had was a 2 litre bottle of Tonic Water. So anyways, by 1pm my time, having been up for 9 hours with no food, i had to leave and go get lunch before my 2.30 tutorial. So walking out, it looked like a pretty good day, a little bit of sun. I went to the Deli to get some food for my poor stomach, met Ilsa and Alex there. Since I still had time to kill, i sat down with them to eat and talk. Ilsa kept complaining about her T.A and Alex told her that she was just in denial about her love for her T.A. As in, in love. *wags finger* Kinda risky Ilsyy, to get involved with your T.A. But Alex was like, the term's going to be over soon anyway, so whatever. You won't see him next year if it doesn't work out. Nice thinking Alex. After that, i had to go off already and yes, there was a Blizzard outside!! I walked out and was like what the hell!! But it was nice really, my first time in a blizzard. Anyway, it was like a scene out of, ever watched the Day After Tomorrow, where Dennis Quaid was walking with his colleague into Manhattan to look for Jake Gyllenhaal's character, where the whole ground is white and the wind is kicking up the snow into the air and into your face? Yeah it was like that. Anyway, so i ran a rather short-long distance from York Lanes to Vanier College and made it! whew. Then of course, because of the weather..people don't usually turn up for class. 2.30 pm Meghan and I were the only ones there. After that a few more people turned up, 2.45 there was me, Meghan, Laura, Li Jing, Rhea, Abigail, Nellie, Natalina, Jamie and Anna. Then suddenly, the power goes out. and then we were like, "whoa." Do we leave? Do we stay? What the hell do we do? And Marcia, our tutor wasn't even here yet. It was kinda fun though, the momentary blackout. You stare out the window, and its like someone had put a white sheet over it. Couldn't see a thing at all. It was exciting. Well for me. Then Marcia arrived, and some of our hopes of leaving were dashed. lol. Anna still decided to leave anyways, since she wasn't feeling that well. By then the power was still out and Marcia was like, Okay you guys stay here i'm gonna go upstairs and see whether they're getting the power back on or class is cancelled. The power came back on and everyone was like "DAMN IT! FOR ONCE!''. Because apparently, York has never cancelled classes in any event ever. So yeah, tutorial continued with like 9 of us in that huge class. Meanwhile, the weather was still raging outside. You could hear the howling wind, which sounded like a woman getting tortured or something. After class, i went to library to do some reading and the MSSA committee meeting at 6.30pm. Going skiing next Saturday!! woo!! Hopefully i won't suck too much. Jesse's mom sent her individual packed air sealed Bak Gua and she gave one to each of us!! I will post a picture of it very soon! I didn't want to open mine because i wanted to take a picture so she gave me some of hers. Lawlz. After the meeting, we went to 2nd cup for cake and hot chocolate. So niiice..since it was so freaking cold outside. We ended up talking and I told them about my plans and the events of the morning, and Nicki and Adalia said : I have Mastercard. *jaw dropped* I was saved!!!! well, we(angeline and me) were SAVED!!! I was so excited and optimistic again. wheee* When i came back, checked my email and Mom had replied. She has Mastercard too!! Okay okay, things are looking up, i thought to myself. So sent a over excited email to Angeline informing her that we were saved. More exciting stuff to come, apparently my constant yammering on about euro 2008 has gave Adalia, fellow tennis and football fan, an idea. Let's go to the U.S Open later this year!! I was abit overwhelmed by the amount of sporting events presenting opportunities for me to go and attend. But what the hell, i've waited long enough! So now, if successful, if we can find tickets, Adalia and I are going to take a trip to New York in the weekend of our first week of term in September for the U.S Open! *jumps around* So yes, yesterday was a hell of a day. The weather, the drama...whew. Today, woke up. Snow from yesterday's Blizzard, beautiful, white, powder, shiny, sparkling snow from yesterday had turned into an icy brown mud slush. I was walking out to get food and almost slipped several times. Then walking back, yes, walking back, the weather reared its ugly head again and it blizzard-ed again!! Wasn't as bad as yesterday afternoon's blizzard, but still very bad. Plus, it was so damn windy. And i was walking in the direction against the wind, so the snow was blowing into my eyes. Lucky I was wearing my glasses, which provided some protection. *shakes head* The weather here is so unpredictable. Anyways, that was the cool stuff that happened to me over the past 3 days...now i have to go do more work. guuuuuuhhhh so sian. 'Opes ye air dooeng weeull. Man Utd v Liverpool tmr!! Have to wake up at 7.30am to watch.... soliloquy88 at 4:48 AM | Comment ~~~~~ |
