Its March already!!!!
Okay anyways, quite an eventful past few days. Lets first start with Wednesday, because it comes first in the list of the days i'm going to be describing to you. So, on Wednesday evening, I met Angeline online because the euro 2008 tickets was to go on sale on the 1st of March. So, we being Singaporean, have the kiasu streak burnt into us decided at 12am march 1st Central European time, we would wait online and place our applications and the applications would go through with a window popping up on our computer screens which would say something like: Congratulations! Your application has been sent through! However, things turned out not like we expected at all. First of all, we were way way waaaay too early. Nothing had been posted on the website yet, except applications for UEFA cup final tickets. There was an article about a press conference to be held on thursday to inform the public about the application process so we were like..okay we're too early la dee da. So Angeline went back to sleep since she was up at an obscene hour of the day SG time and hadn't slept for god knows how long(36 hours...?) because of her semestral exams. So I continued to do my work and we decided to meet again at 12 noon Central European time, meaning 6pm SG time and a 5 AM WAKE UP for ME the next morning!! Okay, its the european championships, i won't complain. So naturally, i overslept by 35 minutes, jumped out of bed and quickly flicked on my desk light groggily. So. Not. A. Good. Idea. I was like " agh My eyeeeeeees!!!!! " It was just too bright. So it took a few minutes to adjust and I turned on my computer and logged on to MSN and the euro2008 website. YAY they were already starting to accpet applications! Woo!! So, happily clicked on the apply now icon aaaaand....more complications arose. First, we had to decided what kind of tickets to get. Individual Match Tickets, Follow My Team(Group) tickets or Follow My Team (Tournament) Tickets. The IMT is just a ticket for one match. FMT Group allows you to follow your team through the whole group stage meaning 3 matches, and FMT Tournament means follow your team through the whole tournament. Unlucky if your team gets knocked out in the Group Stages. Second, payment complications. Neither of us had Mastercard. And they only accepted payment through Mastercard for none UEFA countries. WTF!! I couldn't believe how bad this was going..anyways, did an emergency email to Mom to ask whether she had Mastercard. Then did some major panicking and cursing. After that, we decided things should move on and started to think of what type of tickets to buy and how much it was going to cost. I am so tempted to get FMT Tournament but that is out of the question for now. Later in my life I will be able to afford such a package. Finally, we decided on IMT for the quarterfinals! QUARTERFINALS!! Wooo!! Its gonna cost 180 euros each for CAT 1 Tickets meaning PITCH SIDE SEATS!!! OMFG!!! I so so so am going to die of happiness if we really can get PITCH SIDE SEATS!! But then again, with IMT, we run the risk of not being able to catch the team we want to watch. That is why i'm praying for the perfect situation. If Angeline and I both successfully get tickets to two QF match, one of the teams playing in these 2 QF matches will be Germany and Portugal. *prays prays prays* And we spent the whole morning laying out the skeleton for our Euro Trip. It looks pretty good for now, although we may have to cut some countries because of transport complications. But that can wait till we're sitting down, face to face, with some drinks and snacks, a map of europe sprawled in front of us, some guide books and internet access nearby. So it was 6 am in the morning for me and all my SG friends were online!! Talked to Angeline, Anne, Junie, Jing Ying, Midori with cameo appearance typing swear words at me through Anne's nickname by Bibi. Lol, it was fun. The not fun part was that I was starving and they all had stuff to eat. Nasi Lemak, KFC, Nasi Biryani... *shakes fist* all i had was a 2 litre bottle of Tonic Water. So anyways, by 1pm my time, having been up for 9 hours with no food, i had to leave and go get lunch before my 2.30 tutorial. So walking out, it looked like a pretty good day, a little bit of sun. I went to the Deli to get some food for my poor stomach, met Ilsa and Alex there. Since I still had time to kill, i sat down with them to eat and talk. Ilsa kept complaining about her T.A and Alex told her that she was just in denial about her love for her T.A. As in, in love. *wags finger* Kinda risky Ilsyy, to get involved with your T.A. But Alex was like, the term's going to be over soon anyway, so whatever. You won't see him next year if it doesn't work out. Nice thinking Alex. After that, i had to go off already and yes, there was a Blizzard outside!! I walked out and was like what the hell!! But it was nice really, my first time in a blizzard. Anyway, it was like a scene out of, ever watched the Day After Tomorrow, where Dennis Quaid was walking with his colleague into Manhattan to look for Jake Gyllenhaal's character, where the whole ground is white and the wind is kicking up the snow into the air and into your face? Yeah it was like that. Anyway, so i ran a rather short-long distance from York Lanes to Vanier College and made it! whew. Then of course, because of the weather..people don't usually turn up for class. 2.30 pm Meghan and I were the only ones there. After that a few more people turned up, 2.45 there was me, Meghan, Laura, Li Jing, Rhea, Abigail, Nellie, Natalina, Jamie and Anna. Then suddenly, the power goes out. and then we were like, "whoa." Do we leave? Do we stay? What the hell do we do? And Marcia, our tutor wasn't even here yet. It was kinda fun though, the momentary blackout. You stare out the window, and its like someone had put a white sheet over it. Couldn't see a thing at all. It was exciting. Well for me. Then Marcia arrived, and some of our hopes of leaving were dashed. lol. Anna still decided to leave anyways, since she wasn't feeling that well. By then the power was still out and Marcia was like, Okay you guys stay here i'm gonna go upstairs and see whether they're getting the power back on or class is cancelled. The power came back on and everyone was like "DAMN IT! FOR ONCE!''. Because apparently, York has never cancelled classes in any event ever. So yeah, tutorial continued with like 9 of us in that huge class. Meanwhile, the weather was still raging outside. You could hear the howling wind, which sounded like a woman getting tortured or something. After class, i went to library to do some reading and the MSSA committee meeting at 6.30pm. Going skiing next Saturday!! woo!! Hopefully i won't suck too much. Jesse's mom sent her individual packed air sealed Bak Gua and she gave one to each of us!! I will post a picture of it very soon! I didn't want to open mine because i wanted to take a picture so she gave me some of hers. Lawlz. After the meeting, we went to 2nd cup for cake and hot chocolate. So niiice..since it was so freaking cold outside. We ended up talking and I told them about my plans and the events of the morning, and Nicki and Adalia said : I have Mastercard. *jaw dropped* I was saved!!!! well, we(angeline and me) were SAVED!!! I was so excited and optimistic again. wheee* When i came back, checked my email and Mom had replied. She has Mastercard too!! Okay okay, things are looking up, i thought to myself. So sent a over excited email to Angeline informing her that we were saved. More exciting stuff to come, apparently my constant yammering on about euro 2008 has gave Adalia, fellow tennis and football fan, an idea. Let's go to the U.S Open later this year!! I was abit overwhelmed by the amount of sporting events presenting opportunities for me to go and attend. But what the hell, i've waited long enough! So now, if successful, if we can find tickets, Adalia and I are going to take a trip to New York in the weekend of our first week of term in September for the U.S Open! *jumps around* So yes, yesterday was a hell of a day. The weather, the drama...whew. Today, woke up. Snow from yesterday's Blizzard, beautiful, white, powder, shiny, sparkling snow from yesterday had turned into an icy brown mud slush. I was walking out to get food and almost slipped several times. Then walking back, yes, walking back, the weather reared its ugly head again and it blizzard-ed again!! Wasn't as bad as yesterday afternoon's blizzard, but still very bad. Plus, it was so damn windy. And i was walking in the direction against the wind, so the snow was blowing into my eyes. Lucky I was wearing my glasses, which provided some protection. *shakes head* The weather here is so unpredictable. Anyways, that was the cool stuff that happened to me over the past 3 days...now i have to go do more work. guuuuuuhhhh so sian. 'Opes ye air dooeng weeull. Man Utd v Liverpool tmr!! Have to wake up at 7.30am to watch.... soliloquy88 at 4:48 AM | Comment ~~~~~ |
