Went downtown to the HQ of Girl Guides of Canada today. I misjudged TTC stations and took the 196 to Downsview subway station and realised that I would have to ride through about 3/4 of the whole track to get to Davisville station when I could have just took the number 60 from school to Finch and Davisville is like 5 stops away.

Okay, lesson learnt. Check TTC maps PROPERLY when wandering into unknown territory.

Manchester United Reserves 3- Kaka 2
  • I have never screamed so much in my life
  • This match was slapstick comedy at times:
1. When Evra and Heinze tried to take out Kaka but Evra ended up shoving his ass into Heinze's face which made Heinze fall over and not be able to defend against the free running Kaka. Two defenders take out each other, yes, Kaka can do that to any defender. LMAO!

2. Nesta and Ronaldo fallling down one after another, in the same position, down the slope-like area which surrounds the pitch at Old Trafford. It was like losing your balance whilst skiing. ROFL!!

3. After Dida's fumble (Obrigada, Dida), Heinze was trying to head the ball in, didn't get a touch on it, got shoved into the net by a Milan Player. And then couldn't get up because his boot studs got tangled in the net, and Carrick had to go de-tangle him while looking like he wanted to run over to the touchline to celebrate with the rest. ROTFLOL. Okay i'm mean. But it really is funny.
  • We don't need Hargreaves. Fletcher is teh awesomeness. I just finished the fifth playing of "I'm a Hustler" by Cassidy in dedication to the Fletcherinho. and i don't even like that sort of music.
  • Evra got yellow carded, meaning he misses the 2nd leg. Meaning our makeshift defence becomes Makeshift defence 2: even weaker. No Rio or Vidic back yet.
  • Rio Ferdinand to Nemanja Vidic at 39 minutes when the camera panned to them sitting in the stands : Shit defending, eh?
  • ROOONEY.
  • Dida is really crap. How can AC Milan not see that they need a new GK? and Berlusconi says he'll never trade Dida for Buffon. Uh..right.
  • I still detest G. Gattusso.
  • Tie is still open. We do have a slight advantage but we are crap away from home. I don't like 3-2s. Especially against AC Milan. They are the masters of 1-0. and that's all they really need to do in the 2nd leg really..i think.
  • If we go out, i'll be able to take it. At least we can say we went out in style, playing nice, attractive, attacking football.
  • This was THE tie of the semi final. Of course i'm not being biased.

Chelsea and Liverpool can take their anti-, artless, unimaginative football and go to hell.

Finally caved and signed up with google blogger. Snazzy. I see tags. Just like LJ.

Okay anyway, today i started packing up my room. I tackled the desk and the winter clothes today. As of now, i have dumped all my books/textbooks into one box. Coats, jackets, sweaters and other winter wear have been squished into one suitcase. Tomorrow, i shall tackle the rest of the clothes and clean out the drawers. Ooh and i still have to wash the bed linen and pillow cases. I'll do that..uh..Saturday morning? I'm moving out Saturday afternoon. God i have a whole lot of shit to carry. TPKF and Aunty SC will be coming to help. Isn't it unfair that my exams end so late, therefore, other people can ask ME for help to move out, but I can't ask THEM because they've already left?

My room looks so bare now, i've taken down me posters. Its kinda sad, leaving this little cosy cell that's been home for the past nine months. But i've plenty of pictures to remember it by..

So, here's a little picspam from the Baseball game i attended last Tuesday. It was awesome!!!!!!! Baseball.. its just something i always knew i was going to enjoy, and then when you go see it live, it is EVEN better than you'd expected. I think i'd really rather convey the experience orally than literally. Visuals are always good, so i'll give you some first :

She's got a Ticket to Riiideee...

Blue Jays At Bat: No. 10 Vernon Wells. Who is AWESOME!!!!

Red Sox at Bat(well technically, In running motion after striking the ball): David Ortiz a.k.a Big Papey. I like Big Papey. He looks like a bigger, friendlier, cuddlier version of 50 cent. and the kids sitting behind us, clearly travelling Red Sox fans were really cute when cheering him on.

This guy's name is REALLY Coco Crisp. hahahahahaha, i was like "Huh?" when the announcer first said his name. But he scored a home run in this game, so he's pretty good. Oh, this was taken on the big screen.

About the game...

The Blue Jays won this game 2-1, the winning pitcher: Gustavo Chacin(who looks like a really mean bulldog but I decided that i liked him) whose name and stats you can see in the above picture.

You just KNOW you're in Canada when there are hockey fans waving the Toronto Maple Leafs' flag at a Blue Jays Baseball game.

So my first live professional sports game was baseball. Huh. Never would've thought of that.

Honestly, i took better videos than pictures so i'll show you the videos when i get back.

I fell for the corporate whore of a guy that was standing behind the merchandise counter and did my part as a member of today's consumer society by getting a Blue Jays opening day baseball and a Blue Jays Beer Mug( since i can actually use it for its actual purpose already) .

I am really going to go to more games in the future.

Okay I'm back, armed with videos:

Repeat after me: O'Shea - Fletcher - O'Shea - Ferdinand - Brown - Rooney - Carrick - Heinze - Giggs - Smith. That's right: the only United players NOT involved in Alan Smith's goal were Ronaldo and Van der Saar.

One touch football does NOT get any better than this. Amazing stuff. One touch, one touch all the way until Smith shoots past Doni. I feel so happy for Alan Smith. Out for so long, what a way to mark your comeback. Definitely one of our more under rated players.

The Magnificent 7

C'est Magnifique!!

Oh, and some funny stuff. At half time, the Roma left back, Christian Chivu asked Spalletti to change his position from left back to right back so he didn't have to deal with Ronaldo. When he came out in the 2nd half, to his horror, Fergie also switched Ronaldo from the left flank to the right! LMAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Omg..so damn suay. Did Fergie bug the Away dressing room? I think so.

Bayern lost. I'm sad that there won't be a classic german-english semi final. But quite honestly, bayern were outclassed tonight. There were some bright moments but after that it was all Milan.
My thoughts:

KAHN SHOULD RETIRE AT THE END OF THIS SEASON

Rensing should have started

Hitzfeld made a mistake by starting Ottl on the wing

Bayern missed Schweini

For some reason, i am still extremely happy. The euphoria from yesterday's game still hasn't worn off. It has carried me through Bayern's defeat. God, i'm not even depressed from today's game. Maybe because i was kinda expecting Milan to beat Bayern..

So, after i did a very fair IMO assessment of yesterday's match, i am going to be very biased and be an ugly, fanatical, biased Man utd fan in this post.

New Chants:

Totti, Totti, what's the score?

Totti, who scored who scored, Francesco Totti, who scored?

WHEN IN MANCHESTER, DON'T DO AS THE ROMANS DO.

Fucking Unbelievable.

That's all i have to say. Actually no, i have much more to say. Hehe

Never in my wildest dreams did I expect such a scoreline. 7-1!!!!!!!! Against AS ROMA!! You would expect such a huge scoreline in a qualifier or a weak team in the group stages, but this is the Quarterfinals and its AS Roma, 2nd in the Serie A!

This goes down as our greatest performance in Europe. Ever. End of.

Honestly, i had my reservations before this game. I was prepared for a loss or a draw and actually wouldn't have took it too hard if we went out. I mean, the weekend result against Portsmouth was nothing to cheer about. But this..to beat a team with Totti, De Rossi, Pannucci WITHOUT 5 of our first team players warrants a standing ovation. This game reminds me once again that football is the greatest sport on earth.

On to the game,..Roma were actually quite good really. They had better possession throughout the entire game and during the opening minutes of the game, they passed pretty well. I think it was that 9 minute blitz that signaled the Roma Meltdown. I mean, they've hardly had time to recover and they're down 3 goals to nil already. God, painful reminders of last week..Roma were undone by inexperience this deep into the Champions League and would probably take this as a lesson learnt the hard way. I'm sure they'll be back in the next couple of years, more seasoned and experienced. Sorta like the thrashing Werder Bremen received at the hands of Olympique Lyonnais a few seasons back. Michael Carrick marks his arrival as a Man Utd player in this game. What a performance..and those goals! Quality. Must be Roy Keane's no. 16 shirt working its magic. Ronaldo, there's no point in further saying how good he is, no doubt, the best footballer anywhere in the world at the moment. The boy is just from another planet. It was a great team performance i felt. We counter attacked Roma like hell, it was just a joy to watch.

Credit to the Italians though..Roma's only goal, by De Rossi was awesome! He was looking the other way when he volleyed it passed Van Der Sar..the look on his face..i think he couldn't believed he'd scored too lol..

In the other match, Chelsea beat Valencia, courtesy of a last minute Essien Goal. Chelsea have a knack for clinching matches at the last minute so I wasn't too surprised. So its Chelsea-Liverpool...AGAIN!! For crying out loud. Well, Chelsea don't exactly have a good record against Liverpool in club competitions plus the Champions League is Liverpool's hunting ground. Only April 24-25th will tell..

But now, on to tomorrow's game, i want Bayern to win of course. Schweini is doubtful for the match..noooo.. can't afford to lose him!! But good news for Bayern too, Milan are missing almost all of their strikers..if they can shut down Kaka, they're through.

I am looking forward to a Bayern Munich-Manchester United semi final. It will be awesome. Bayern-Utd ties are ALWAYS CLASSIC. Plus, i have a feeling, fate will bring two great managers, and two great friends together for one more time. The Knight and Der General. Take a bow, Sir Alex Ferguson and Ottmar Hitzfeld.

God i just hope i'm not wrong.

: )

A little list of what I should be doing/achieving/attempting over the summer:

1. Adobe Photoshop. Mom, if you're reading this, can we please pleaaase get photoshop?

2. Read, read, read. Classics, newspapers, sports, poetry, especially stuff related to my fields of study.

3. Have regular movie-thons to catch up on all the films i've missed over the past 8 months. Gosh, i think i only watched 6 movies since i came here..Mom and Dad will be so disappointed that their young padawan, after 17 years of training, has failed miserably in keeping the "watch every movie out there possible" attitude when left to wander alone.

4. Actually pay attention when someone is teaching me how to cook something.

APRIL!!!!

Yes. Going Home is approaching.

Two things i'm excited about:

  1. On the 17th GOING TO WATCH THE TORONTO BLUE JAYS PLAY THE BOSTON RED SOX AT THE ROGERS CENTRE!!! AHHHHH Me very first baseball game!!
  2. On the 28th, GOING TO WATCH TORONTO FC vs KANSAS CITY WIZARDS!!! Okay, i never thought my first live football match was going to be a Major League Soccer one. But whatever, its still a live football match.
I'm more excited about the baseball really.

Moving On.....

Today was a generally slow moving, sucky, boring, uneventful day. I woke up at 8am for whatever reason and spaced out while staring out the window for a while. It snowed overnight again. Isn't it supposed to be spring already? Guh.. Anyway, still felt abit depressed from the mid-week football matches. Yeah, people get depressed about stuff in real life, i get depressed over sports. Well, sports is real life right..? Whatever. I'm depressed, end of.

Football babbling alert

The week started out all right, was looking forward to Tuesday because I would be done with my 2nd final and then watch the Bayern-Milan match in peace. The final turned out way easier than I had anticipated, considering i didn't really REALLY study for this one. I was procrastinating all the way through the weekend, until Sunday Night, which was when i dutifully turned off my laptop and concentrated on the mountain of notes in front of me. So after the simple enough Communications final, I rushed back to my room to tune in to the game. It was a fantastic game!! Actually I was kinda worried about Mark "the one asshole to rule them all" Van Bommel's and Oliver " I just can't seem to let go and retire" Kahn's absences but I was excited that Michael Rensing and Andreas Ottl were gonna be filling in! I've never see them play before but Axe said that he'd been impressed by them everytime he watched them play..true enough, they were awesome replacements!!

Rensing was just absolute class. The save of the night has to be credited to his one handed close range reflex save from Ambrosini's header. And when he saved Gilardino's shot at point blank again, the look on Gilar's face was like "WTF?" but it was a cute WTF. Made me want to go awww. Andi Ottl was arguably the best player in the first half. Constantly threatened the Milan goal with his efforts from long range. And he's supposed to be a defensive midfielder! Well, that's one more dimension he has to him, compared to Owen Hargreaves. But I guess Hargreaves is the type who breaks up play and wins the ball for the attack. But isn't that what DMs are supposed to do? *scratches head* ahh..well, okay, he's an All out DM.

Daniel Van Buyten needs his own shrine built for him. After that ridiculous penalty decision by that Russian Referee, I was about to give up. WHY? WHYY is it always like that against Italian teams?? Then DVB equalized again in the 93rd minute!! And I was like COME OOOOONN!! It was fun watching Gattusso freak out at the end. I mean, his little bitchfit to the ref was so fuckin' laughable. I really dislike Gattusso..one minute he's acting like a tough guy, the next he's rolling around on the pitch like a wuss. *rolls eyes*

Some match trivia:
  • Rummenigge actually complained about this ref before the match, incidentally, its the same guy who officiated the same match last season between these two teams in the last 16, where Bayern lost 4-1. Well, that penalty wasn't one at all, so for once, Karl Heinz opens his mouth for something useful.
  • Rensing played in the first leg of last year's match up where they drew 1-1. Kahn played in the return leg and they lost 4-1!!!! SHITE!! History, please don't repeat yourself. I don't think they're gonna play Rense in the return leg.
The revelations of the night were obviously, Rensing, Ottl and Christian Lell. You could see that once Christian Lell (and Claudio Pizzaro) came on, the game totally changed. Lahmy and Schweini actually STARTED to play ball. Poldi was absolute shite in this game. So Willy Sagnol's injury is a good thing, Bayern says that Lell is gonna be his replacement for the rest of the season. Yay more german talent!! Will also be looking forward to Furstner and Hummels play in the future.

Oh, Dida is crap and Milan suck at set pieces.

Man Utd vs Roma

Well..what to say about this game..uhm.. I don't think its over for Man Utd yet. Before i start to get into the details, i must rant on one ginger haired Paul Aaron Scholes. SCHOLESY!!! Like WTF WERE YOU THINKING!!!!! Come on Man, you have too much experience at this level to make such stupid mistakes. The two yellows were for unnecessary, reckless tackles which honestly, you should have carried out in a cleaner, more efficient way. Argh. Now we're gonna miss a key player for the 2nd leg. Which ultimately decreases our chances of going through. Seriously, Scholes looks like such a harmless person, yet he's such a monster on the field. Is it the hair? There's this saying that red headed people are generally more hot tempered than others. Yis, i'm blaming the hair.

Roma were really outplaying Man Utd throughout the whole match. Even before we went down to 10 men. For some reason, we just cannot produce our Premiership form in Europe.

To more positive things, Ronaldo was just unbelievable. In the first half, he was awesome. In the second, he was just fantastic. Roma were practically shitting themselves when he got the ball. And the orchestration of the goal was just incredible. Ronaldo, please remain a redblood for the long run!

Rooney + Ronaldo = Class.

Speaking of Rooney, he finally scores in Europe after 3 long years. Does that mean you're gonna break your international goal scoring duck soon? The control of the ball and then shooting pass the Roma GK was just brilliant.

We got that away goal and at least its 11 vs 11 at OT. Must. remain. optimistic.

UEFA Cup rants: A tale of two German Clubs

God, yesterday was the main source of my depression.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Osasuna

*orders some tequila shots*

3-0. At home. My poor heart. Bayer have a poor record against Spanish clubs but i didn't expect the the score to be SO lopsided! This is like PSV at home to Liverpool. Well, i guess, like its mirror image in the champions league, this tie is effectively over. Can't see Bayer scoring 4 goals in Osasuna. Argh..what makes it more painful is that Leverkusen, playing on their day can beat ANYONE!!! But if you hurt them early, like Osasuna(scoring in the 1st minute FFS!!), they just get shell shocked and don't know how to hit back. *sighs*

Werder Bremen vs AK Alkmaar

0-0. Away. I think Bremen not getting an away goal might hurt them in the return leg. But they're strong in the Weserstadion so hopefully it'll be okay. They just have to make sure Alkmaar do not score in Bremen! Tie's still up for grabs.

Okay that was my usual footie rant/babbling.

Less than a month to go!! Yay!!
