In re:/contradiction of the previous post, the last three days of wimbledon was absolutely amazing. A true "Light at the end of the tunnel" situation. No no "Light" is an understatement, it was a fucking pyrotechnic fireworks display at an ACDC Live show. I've never actually been to an ACDC live show but i've seen footage. Okay back on track, my favourite match has to be the Gasquet v Roddick QF. Followed by the men's final. That was just legendary. From the closeness of the match to seeing Federer freak out for a couple of moments and pushed to the absolute limit. Now that is something I've never seen before. I used to not really like Nadal but this final won me over. Still firmly rooted in the Federer camp, but um..maybe there's some room for Rafa.
To the Gasquet Match..Damn, that was actually the FIRST time I got to see him play ALL tournament. Its still bad that they only started showing the match from the end of the 4th set. Gasquet started his amazing comeback against Roddick in the third and the sick shots all came in the FOURTH!!! And i only got to see the fifth. Which was little consolation. gahh i wanted to witness those jaw dropping shots that came from the racket of my favourite tennis player. I hope they'll repeat that match somewhere down the line. Speaking of down the line..Gasquet should have that shot of his patented. All that crap about not being mentally tough..well people can't say that anymore!! Coming from 2 sets down to beat the no. 3 seed is no easy-peasy stuff. I did get to witness a whole gasquet match though. And my god, it was up against the best player you could ask for. Roger Federer. So many exchanges of drool worthy, elegant one handed backhand cross court rallies. I was about to eyegasm. On the uzzer hand.. I kinda feel sorry for Andy though..it seems like he is stalling..and the effect of Jimmy Connors is wearing off a little. We'll see during the American Hard Court season..omg can't wait!! Its been less than a week since Wimbledon concluded and I'm already having withdrawal symptoms. Maybe its because Wimbledon was the end of about 2 months of non-stop tennis. The clay court season then the French Open and the very short Grass court season then Wimbledon. Now its the slow transition to the summer season in the United States. Then the U.S Open!! Wheee. And by then Football will be back!!! Louder Wheeee. I really have to get GolTV in Toronto. To other news, today's my last day of work. It feels nice. Going on vacation and come back and bum around till its time to head back North. Normally i'm not too excited about beach vactions but I'm quite intrigued by the Maldives. Mostly its because i've never been there before and um..the beaches look really heavenly. And the part where Dad mentioned about taking a boat in the middle of the night from the airport to the island in the shark infested waters...Oooooooo. Excited muchly, am i. *nods* Oh i met Zubaidah at Parkway Parade today. I honestly felt really REALLY happy when i saw her. Maybe its because she's the only one I haven't seen since I got back. But wow, i was going: Zubaidaaaaaaaaah!! The A's get longer towards the end. Okay time to get sentimental. Every morning in secondary school, i would be sitting at my desk reading the newspapers and then she'll arrive, always later than me, sit down, and start reading the page i'm looking at. And we'll always go from discussing sports, current events, celebrities and even politics. She was actually the only one i'd discussed politics with. Well, not many 16 year olds are interested in that right? I'm glad i found one that was. Yep the French, Indonesian and American elections..we covered them all. I also remember us fangirling Michael Phelps during the Olympic games. Well I converted her with my incessant babbling. Ahhh i miss those times. In the short two years i've known her before graduation, she's actually the only one of my friends in secondary school that shared the same enthusiasm for football, politics, history and music. Even the random stuff that i suddenly became interested in, she would coincidentally be too. We would be sitting there, talking and then suddenly either one of us would be going : OMG you like that too??!! or "You think that too??! *laughs* Now she's going to study Visual Communications at NTU..time really flies. All the best Zubaidah, all the best. I'm gonna miss you girlie. *big smile and hug* Life's looking great right now..tomorrow night I shall be going to watch HP and the OFP with my best friend, just the two of us, like old times. And we'll have a great time sniggering and making snarky remarks about how the movie failed the book badly and squeeing at the actors. We don't really "Squee", i just can't find a better word. Then Sunday its off for Hols and when i'm back, more Harry Potter with the release of the 7th and final book of the series. Mana Mana. yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. Okay I guess that's it for a while. Until i'm back from the MALDIVES!! soliloquy88 at 2:13 PM | Comment ~~~~~ |
