Just so you know, i am not freaking out about being alone now. I think its great actually, seems a little intimidating at first, but i think i'm getting to love it. Like today, i got up, Fel called and said lets go for breakfast. So I got ready, we went to this really nice place. They served the usual north american breakfast stuff but they also had a lot of gourmet breads. I had 2nd helpings of the olive and rosemary bread, it is seriously delicious. I think i'll go back there just for that. And also because the rest of the food is just meh. After that we went shopping, or rather, window shopping. Then I went grocery shopping, she had to rush home because her aunt was calling her non-stop. *lol* I originally wanted to get just some meat and drinks (because i am tired of just OJ and milk) but i ended up getting veggie dip, canned tomato/broth, apples and vegetables. Which weighed a ton and almost tore apart my 99 cent Green Grocery Bag. STILL NO MARMITE!!! Talked to Mom and we just may have figured out that she didn't get it from Loblaws last year but at Gelati. That would explain the blank look on that bleached blonde Loblaws employee when I asked about said marmite. So i got home around 2.45 pm and decided to start cooking. Prepped everything and just dumped it in the crockpot for stew. I love the crockpot. It is my best friend in the kitchen. Crockpot sounds funny. After that, cleaned the kitchen, mopped the floor and did some laundry. Then I hit the books finishing my reading for Poli Sci and Humanities. I feel so accomplished today. Now i'm sitting here finishing up the remnants of my chicken veggie stew dinner and a slice of foccacia bread. Verdict: I like it. and that is good enough. Because i'm the one that has to finish the 3/4's of it left in the pot. So, dinner for the next couple of days is settled. Think there's a good movie showing on TV later, will check that out. Oh, saw a guy on the bus today who looked EXACTLY LIKE MARCOS BAGHDATIS. That was interesting. soliloquy88 at 7:41 AM | Comment ~~~~~ Thursday, September 20, 2007
I'm gonna miss two people, 1. Aunty Diane and 2. Jose Mourinho Aunty Diane went back to Hong Kong this morning and now I am truly on my own. I woke up to an Aunty Di- less house and it was rather sad really. I'm gonna miss her around. Anyway, as i sit here waiting to go to school, MOURINHO left Chelsea!!! Now can Michael Ballack leave as well? I think Roman has had enough. Gahh, its a pity really, he was so entertaining. From his interaction with the media i.e 'Is it because he's GERMAN?' and his name calling and mind games with other managers e.g Wenger; Voyeur and Benitez; We have 60 points more than you. Goodbye, Jose. Now let's see whether Chelsea can outdo themselves and find a bigger cunt than you were. soliloquy88 at 8:26 PM | Comment ~~~~~ Saturday, September 15, 2007
sometimes i wish i weren't so obsessed with learning languages. Anyway, what just took place between dad and me has totally ruined the good mood that i was in previously today. soliloquy88 at 9:35 AM | Comment ~~~~~
Currently waiting for Raymond and Michelle to arrive before dinner can start. Damn i'm starving. I passed my G-1 Written Test today!! WOOOO. Its only the first step. But it is still the first step. I'll be getting my license in the mail in about 4 weeks, and i'll probably start my driving lessons in February or March. See, here, after you take the theory test, you'll have a period of 8 months before your road test. So during that 8 months, you'll have to complete in class lessons and of course, on the road lessons. So, it doesn't make any sense to start my driving lessons now if I can only take the road test in May. Might as well wait till a few months before, that way i'll still be fresh when the time comes for the driving test. Now i shall be explaining more about how getting your driver's license works here...Read on if you want to impress people with knowledge of Canada's driving system! So, after you pass your G-1 Written test, you wait 8 months from that date to take the first road test. Pass that, and you'll be a G-2 licensed driver. Now there are alot of rules which i won't bore you with, but as a G-2 Driver, you basically can't drive on the major highways. After being a G-2 Driver for 6 months, then you'll have to take another road test, which is a freeway/highway test. Highways here are a big deal, thats why there's a normal road test and a highway test. After the highway test, you'll be a fully fledged G licensed Driver! The whole process sounds rather draggy i know, but hey, i'll be spending the next two years here so i'll have all the time to get a full license. Yes, I sincerely hope that I will not turn out to be a terrible driver. Reminder to myself, GET: 1. Lab Manual for German Class 2. Card Reader to plug in MAC for Camera YEEEEES TMR BAYERN MUNICH VS SCHALKE 04 I didn't get to watch Dortmund thrash Werder!! nargh. Werder...what's happening?? soliloquy88 at 7:22 AM | Comment ~~~~~ Thursday, September 13, 2007
I apologize for not updating this sooner, its been almost two weeks since i left SG and yes, this blog deserves more attention from me.
Firstly a few things, I missed the one year mark for this blog!!! And i have only myself to blame. Roger Federer is now officially Darth Federer. He is hawt in the all black outfit. and he won the US Open. *fist pump* I got GolTV and Setanta Sports! Which i cursed incessantly over the last weekend because they didn't show Germany-Wales. They showed Sweden-Denmark. SERIOUSLY? Setanta was showing the Rugby World Cup. France Lost to Argentina!!!!! boo. Anyway, Allez Les Bleus! Okay now to what i've been up to so far. When I arrived in TO two weeks ago, i had a major moment where I was reminiscing/panicking about stuff in general. First, i forgot to pack A LOT of things that I wanted to bring. And then of course, that moment where i realise i'm back to relying on myself and how i'm not gonna see mom and dad and brother and dogs and friends for a very long time. Never has lying in bed trying to get over jet lag been so unsettling and scary. After the first few days, it was pretty okay. Of course, i wanted to get into a few more classes but i've decided not to. I can't get in anyway because they're all full. So i'm sticking with my original schedule which i enrolled in back in June. And No French for me, i will be taking the fascinating language that is DEUTSCH. I've been through 3 classes so far, and i must say its pretty good. I should spend more time on it though. Quiz next wednesday! Two Sundays ago, Raymond brought Michelle, Aunty Diane and Me to the Annual Buffalo Wing Festival in Buffalo, New York. A little drama at the Canadian-U.S Border as i didn't have a green visa card. Actually I was given one when i transited at Los Angeles a couple of days earlier but the Immigration Officer at Pearson International airport tore it out when i arrived in TO!! Fuck, i had to pay 6 U.S DOLLARS for that stupid piece of paper. But the Wing Festival was really fun. They had it in a baseball stadium and we walked around trying all types of wings. Doesn't get more Authentic American than this. After the wing ding, in which i cried because one of the flavours was really really spicy, it is spicier than the spiciest sauce they have at the tex-mex restaurant at One Rochester and that, my friends, is spicy. We went Outlet Mall Shopping on the aptly named, Outlet Mall Boulevard. I got some nice clothes, branded mind you. The week after that classes started. I have German Class on Mondays and Wednesdays, Humanities on Tuesdays and Double Poli Sci on Thursdays and Fridays. Jennifer, from Orientation and Li from last year's humanities class are also in my Humanities class this year WOOT! too bad we're not in the same tutorial. First week of classes...my lecturer for Global Politics handed out ESSAY QUESTIONS already. Talk about piling on the pressure. For my Introduction to Politics class, which happened to fall on the 6th anniversary of September 11th, Russian Professor(!!) discussed with us September 11th and the 6 years since it happened. I have never felt so anti-U.S in the space of an hour. German is a really great language, pronunciation's a little tricky sometimes. I've met some really nice people in my classes already, I've got an invitation to a friend's birthday slumber party in November! And this is coming from a girl who i'm meeting for the 2nd time(well i guess my 1st impression was really good *laughs*). But i like Felicia, she's really nice. I had to wait three hours on tuesday after poli sci lecture and she had no more classes but she offered to hang out with me until I had to go to class. Seriously, that's really awesome. She lives in Brampton and that's 2 hours away. Poor dear has to spend 20 bucks on transportation a day. Today in German Class, I partnered Niels for some of the in class Activitäts we had to do and we got talking and he says he might want to go to Singapore to do graduate studies. Plus he's learning Chinese! So he asked me about Singapore and was rather relieved when I told him everyone speaks English and everything is in english there. Also after explaining how English is the first language and everyone of different ethnicity learns their mother tongue as a 2nd language in school, he's going: Wait, is it Simplified Chinese in Singapore or the traditional one? Me: Simplified. Niels: Thank God. *lol* Then he talked about how even though his name is Niels which is of german-danish origin, he is actually Portuguese-Latvian with some Russian thrown in. Very Nice Guy:) Its amazing, the diversity here. Enough about Classes, now to my domestic skills. Ever since i came here, I have washed more dishes than I have ever did in the past 4 months, changed light bulbs, put together a PROPER Book shelf with PROPER tools like screwdrivers, spanners and whatnot and learned to separate my garbage into 3 different categories. I've spent much of my time at the supermarket comparing which Kitchen cleaning product will work best and also comparing prices of rubber gloves. HA! I think you would be laughing seeing me do stuff like that. I was going "God Am i seriously standing here contemplating whether to get Lysol or Windex to clean my toilet?" But I think i'm reveling in these new responsibilities. Living in a house vs Living in a Dorm: Two Totally Different Things. Dorm Pampers you, House does not. 133 Joo Chiat Terrace, pampers me ALOT! Okay so that's about it for now. Its been a long post. And that's what happened. I should really be studying for my driving theory test now. Till then, Tschüss! Mach's gut! soliloquy88 at 9:07 AM | Comment ~~~~~ |
